Abstract
In efforts to enhance perovskite solar cells (PSCs), the quality of perovskite films is critical. Given this, our study investigated adding specific cesium halides—CsCl, CsBr, and CsI—to the main PbI2 precursor to improve the film's crystallization. Of the halides, CsI proved pivotal. Its inclusion produced perovskite films that were dense, even, and had increased crystallinity. These films also displayed a favored alignment and a pure black perovskite phase. Beyond structure, CsI-treated films showed a boost in carrier lifetime due to fewer nonradiative recombinations. Practically, using these improved films in PSCs increased the power conversion efficiency (PCE) from an initial 17.45% to a remarkable 20.29%. Testing these devices for real-world durability revealed that the CsI-enhanced PSC maintained 75% of its starting PCE after 350 hours of consistent light exposure.
